The easier way, supposed you use COMOS with a version >= 3.1.2, is to
login on the PM as !root and then just do a
attach Sx where x is the desired port
Then you may configure the modem. Stop the attach by sending the
telnet escape character. If you are connected via telnet to the PM,
enter the telnet escape character and type "send escape".
Be careful! Never attach to a port without a device connected or
powered on. This _may_ lead to PM lockups.
