More like NOT REAL Stac. The first compression that Ascend pipelines used
was called Stac Compression but it was PROPRIETARY. You had to go to 4.6+
or higher to get the REAL STAC LZH-9 compression code.

It really depends. On average surfing, we see more like 1.6:1 compression
ratios which is still VERY good,and for the cost of the stac card (street
price under $500), it is well worth it to your customers.
