Where I have mostly seen this is when it is not giving the connection
speed in the script and the authenication on the server side needs it.

Make sure that they have the correct script, or you can make one a
custom one for them if they can't get one that works. (if you want to
know how to do this, you can email me! It's pretty straight forward.)

Try it in a terminal session to make sure that it will connect that way
using the OT/PPP and if it goes through just fine then you know that it
is the script and not the modem.
