I would say you are headed in the right direction. If you can swap ports, it
is
always good to check. Unpluged the line for a couple of minutes then plug it
back in. It might come back up. If you can get back and see if the Adtran
or whatever
interface they use) where the line enters your building and check for some
green
lights or something. The unit could be dead which is the phone company
problem.

Chances are the phone company unplugged you.

I have nothing plugged into one port. It has
Line down, loss of sync, and receive carrier loss alarms. Plus
a "*" on loss of sync and receive carrier.

Which phone company?
