*sigh* the acronym is MP RFC 1990 if you're interested and Ascend MP+ is
RFC 1934 ... any way MP is an acro for Multilink Ppp.

As posted to jeff's response, lower buffers, limit top connect rate, and
install DUN 1.3 to stabilize the issue.

Uhm, yeah 3.8 didn't deal well with M$'s version of MP. Ugh, and looking
at the release notes it was based on RFC 1717.

If you read the release notes for 3.8.2:

Microsoft Windows 95 and 98 Analog Multilink PPP Improved
Throughput on an analog Multilink PPP (MP) connection from a Microsoft
Windows 95 or Windows 98 machine has been improved. In previous releases,
throughput was very poor when using analog MP from a Microsoft Windows 95
or Windows 98 machine.

Amazing what you can find!
