Lynx is fantastic for command line HTML review, and most of my
internal
docs are on HTML format .. but pray tell, how would I get to the HTML
docs of the lucent portmaster library, as I found their website
impossible
to navigate. I had to then make a long distance call to my assisant at
our data center who READ me the relevant section on "set default host"
over the telephone!!
No, I won't write this up as an RFE, nor shall I tell it to the
management
of lucent, since it's a basic given for a web site designer to cater
for the three different types of users (especially if your
a DataComms equipment vendor) e-mail based, JAVA web-based, HTML
based.
However, did you know that lynx supports form attributes fairly well
nowadays, I was impressed to find that it can work with the M$-IIS
front end very well. We use it to access our on-line library of docs
and office documentation, which have some fill in the form types of
pages.
That gives me an idea, I have an old laptop 386sx20 Mhz, which has
enough horsepower to run .. not M$Win3.11, definitely not MS$95/8
nor DOS (not useful in DOS), but .... linux for small than 4 megabyte
cpu's (Small Linux on sunsite). It'll have PPP, ethernet, secure
login, shadow password, ncFTP and can run most programs easily with
swap space, say how about radius server itself :-) :-) :-)
and, if we hook up a PM2E to it on a subnet..
sorta mobile POP on wheels !!
