Hmm, I'm using the standard cables that were provided with the Portmaster
(from Starcom). There's a high density plug on one side, with 8 normal DB25
plugs on the other side. The cable, including the plugs, are about 4 feet
total length.

If it does go away with different modems, that's too bad, since we have a
bunch of these sitting around gathering dust. I guess I'll try a USR
Courier v.everything and see how it does.
