We seem to have killed a Cardinal 33.6 modem with 3.8b17. It worked fine
with 3.8b13 and prior versions. The baud rate stays at 33600, no
reneg/retrains going on -- it just starts slowing after a few minutes to the
point that it won't transfer data (ok, a little bit still get through). I
have tried the usual tricks - DUN1.2B, lower the FIFO buffers, drop the
modem/computer rate to 56k from 112K without much luck. If I can find the
correct commands I will try disabling v.42 and seeing if that helps.

Other than this modem no one else has complained -- but it usually takes a
few days as my users are pretty slow to bitch ;-)
