Yes. V.42bis is just data compression. It doesn't care what the carrier
protocol is. There are even a couple of ISDN devices that can use V.42bis.

Sorry, that's wrong. There is no such thing as a V.42 connection. The last
modem connection standard is V.34. V.42 is *error correction* and V.42bis
is *data compression*. BOTH are still usable with the PCM modems.
