Once upon a time Samudra E. Haque shaped the electrons to say...
>what would you think would be the type of service/connection being
>offered from our PM1 to the ip host 203.190.1.17 in the following
>output, as seen from a workstation via telnet ?

Sure, simple.

>Hnd Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address
> 11 0 0 pm1.leased.prad.520 203.190.1.17.520 UDP

There is a UDP connection to this IP on socket 520 - which is RIP
(unless I've crosswired my memory cells).

Sounds like you might want Framed-Routing = None.

>is there a write up to understand how the local address and the
>foreign addresses are made up?

It is just IP/hostname.socket. And various protocols have their
assigned sockets, per RFC 1700.
