Hello,

We too have had problems with MWave modems. We have found a fix that
appears to work reliably. Disconnection problems are 100% cured and
speeds have been dramatically improved.

Go to:
http://www3.pc.ibm.com/techinfo/116be.html

These are the level 20D drivers for most A, C and M series Aptiva
computers (which covers most of the computers with MWave modems).

You must follow the README.TXT file that comes with the setup program
and follow it's instructions EXACTLY.

If you are unable to get the 7.9MB setup file on this IBM, you can
use another computer to download the individual floppy disk images.
These are available at:
http://www3.pc.ibm.com/techinfo/9dbe.html

There is also a patch update available for use after installing the
level 20D drivers for improved software compatibility. We have never
had any problems after applying the 20D drivers, so have no working
experience with the patch which is available at:
http://www3.pc.ibm.com/techinfo/10c8a.html

If the machine on which you are working is specifically mentioned as
one that cannot use the 20D drivers, you can get the level 20E
drivers by visiting:
http://www3.pc.ibm.com/techinfo/35ee.html

I hope this information helps you as much as it helped us...
