OUCH! A test to buy a Portmaster!!??

Actually, in the defense of the original posters question , this is a
good question and no pre-purchase test is needed!! I've seen messages
posted on this list many times with people having dropped connect problem
on PortMasters. Choice of hubs plays a roll in this problem in part.

Hubs do come in several flavors ie. un-managed, managed, 10base, 100
base, switched.. etc. Of course most of us on this list now know that
with more than a couple PortMasters online, one needs to install a
"switched" hub. Managed or un-managed "switched", it's your choice... but
with SNMP getting a bit more popular maybe "managed switched" is a good
choice nowadays. We're going to reevaluate our hub choices!

Good Question!
