What documentation are you looking at?

*Y1 busies the line. *Y2 busies the line on DTR loss. *Y0 unbusies the
line. -j0 I can't remember...but my DeskPorte manual (don't have an
ISPorte manual at home) says it disables the sending the v.42 control
sequence when originating a call...probably not very relevant for an ISP.

Here's how I init them...

02/08 11:05:58 yC1 send: ATZ
02/08 11:05:59 yC1 waiting for ``OK'' ** found **
02/08 11:06:00 yC1 send: AT*Y1
02/08 11:06:00 yC1 waiting for ``OK'' ** found **
02/08 11:06:00 yC1 send: AT&f$b115200%u1-o4Q0-j1-k1&d3*Y2S2=0S0=0\T40\V5V1E0

The intended result is reset, busy the line, send real init string.
Mgetty waits for RING and sends ATA...you probably need S0=1 for a PM.
