Advanced CT1 features? You mean trunk side CT1's vs. line side?

Why not? It's a simple card in the switch. Cheaper and easier for even
them to do than line side in fact.

Well Ok. 56k is not even the only advantage to trunk side CT1's though -
with line-side it converts from analog to digital a few times which serverly
degrades modem performance.

Yes, I believe you use FXS loop start signalling and set the other things
like you normally would (probably D4/AMI signalling too instead of
B8ZS/ESF).

Really, really, try to get trunk-side. Of course, line-side will work.
