Once upon a time Gail A. Harless shaped the electrons to say...

When the 'slowdown' was reported I went into the lab and loaded the hell
out of a PM-2e-30. I never saw it slowdown in the least in presenting
the prompt. And to my knowledge we've never been presented evidence of
a slowdown aside from 'it seems to slow down'. Others have reported no
apparently slowdowns from heavily loaded units.

In short, I do not believe there is a slowdown if everything is running
as it should. If something were causing spurious interrupts, or flooding
the box, etc - them sure, but that is an error condition and not normal
operation.
