All depends what other systems you have. Until recently our main
email host was NT based so other than to permit their modem login we
had NO reason for users to be created on Unix boxes at all. We've
recently switched to Sendmail/Procmail on Linux for the main POPhost,
and so we do now have unix user accounts on *one* machine for some of
our dial-in accounts, but even so it's by no means a 1 to 1 mapping.
If ever I get around to creating a script it'll end up saying
somethign lik "and do you want a POP account on Mail1 for this
dial-in account" and creating that account as well.
As an ISP, I have to say, we concentrate on business users (leased
line, routed ISDN, etc) for the most part and not the "traditional"
dial-up market, so I guess we have different needs. (THis also means
we tend to have two or three new accounts a week, instead of two or
three an hour!)
