Re: (PM) PM3 problems

Chris,

I've ranted and raved about some of my problems with the PM-3 and wanted
to let you and the rest of the list know that almost every problem I've
had with the PM-3 has been telco related and NOT Livingston/Lucent
related. My PM-3 is now working nearly flawlessly since the telco fixed
the encoding problems with my lines (they had it set to B8ZS and it
should have been AMI (and they told me that switching the PM-3 to B8ZS
would not affect it because the switch was expecting AMI back)). So,
they were sending me B8ZS and expecting AMI back. They were baffled
that it was working at all. However, people could connect most of the
time, but they would get randomly disconnected. Now that the lines are
provisioned correctly, all is well.

Do a show line0 (or line1 or both) and look for errors. If you have a
few, reboot the box and watch the errors to see if any are consistenly
counting up. If there are very many errors on your line at all, call
the telco and open a trouble ticket. I had to force the issue until
someone physically came to my location and checked the line. Once he
looked at the line, it was a 10 minute fix.
