I have the following situation:
- a PortMaster 2ER, let's name it PMA, ComOS 3.7.2, IP 192.168.1.2
- a PertMaster 2E, PMB, ComOS 3.7, IP 192.168.1.3
- a Cisco router, running OSPF with the two PMs, call it ROUTER, IP
192.168.1.1
- a Linux box running GateD with ospf, call it LINUX, IP 192.168.1.4
Now, the problem is that PMB doesn't seem to be able to establish
neighbors with the other two machines:
PMA>sh ospf neigh
Inter- Last
MD5
face Area Neighbor State Pri IP Address Hello
ID
------ --------------- --------------- -------- --- --------------- -----

ether0 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1 Full/BDR 1 192.168.1.1 7

192.168.1.3 Full/BDR 10 192.168.1.3 10

PMB> sh ospf neigh

As you can see, PMB NEVER establishes an OSPF link with ROUTER or
LINUX, though it does with PMA.
Normally, I would't mind, but PMA (our vital portmaster) doesn't
receive routing updates and does not update routings in the backbone,
which means that users from PMA cannot have routings in the rest of the
net.
To make myself clear: I have 3 OSPF implementations: the one on
Livingston portmasters, the one on a CISCO router and the one from GateD.
Since the PMs can establish themselves as neighbors, but not with the
others, I can only ask: is OSPF right on PortMasters? And why, if PMB is
not in the network, PMA works ok, and with PMB in the net PMA goes
crazy?
Please anyone with more PMs and OSPF on them can tell me: does
OSPF work in such situations?
Contact me directly for more details.
Best wishes,
Mihai
