define cannot get anywhere... can't ping him? He can't surf? no telnet?

If he can connect, modems say everything is fine and he can get places
with ip addresses then it's a DNS question. If even that doesn't work
then I'd suspect a bad TCP/IP stack, in which case install from a known
working win95 CDRom.

Is there a timeout set anywhere?
