traceroute. Ping isn't very useful really except for binary can/can't
reach info.
But try to traceroute from a host on your network to his router, and to
a host on his network. And do the same from this side to yours. All
it takes is a routing error on ONE side for this to happen.
With one error packets from that side won't reach the other, nor would
replies to incoming packets be able to find their way back.
