We have really good POTS lines where I am. Just about everyone with a
decent 33.6 modem could get 33.6 connections. The PM-3's on CT-1's don't
seem to manage 33.6 very well. Less than 1% of our connections are at
33.6 although this is somewhat skewed by the fact that we kept some analog
lines for the ones who were having problems early on with PM-3's. I don't
believe that in general there is a problem with the PM-3 and disconnects.
I can stay connected for days from home and I do. There only seem to be 2
issues that plague me. The worst is the 33.6 issue. The other issue is
latency while playing quake. We run our own Quake servers and there are
brief pauses when connected to the pm-3 which are not there with the
analog pool and the PM-2's. I don't know what causes it but it is real.
In all other ways the PM-3's are superior units. I am hoping that the
next release will solve these two problems for us.
