That's what the HW Guide says - and I don't know otherwise. Haven't tried
non-parity myself.

Oh. Yeah, I believe that's what you'd want to do so that all machines can
participate.

Just the way the OSPF code works. I think it is because the route is
external to the LAN, and I believe it also means less computation on the
routing tables each time a route is added/dropped.

It is probably trying to use MP+, which is a non-standard Ascend system. I
know you can get a Pipeline to make a two channel connection to a PM, but I
don't know how myself. I think we may have a technote on it on the website.
