New cards and OS37 causing problems

It seems as if the list(my list) of customers who can't connect continues
to grow(I upgraded last Saturday). Some can't connect at all, some get
dropped after about 5-10 minutes---EVERY time they try to log in to my
server. NONE of them had any problems prior to my upgrade Saturday of
ComOs37 and the 56K cards in our PM3.

I called Livingston support and promptly started a ticket. I spoke with a
tech who told me to try two different things:
1. Have my customer install 3 or 4 commas after the phone number in order
to get it thru the v.8 bis connect.
2. Have my customer turn off LAPM.

Question:
How do I turn off LAPM(the tech didn't know either)?

Also, has anybody tried the "commas" thing? I have not had the opportunity
yet.
