here is my physical setup:
pm2ei with 5bri card - connected to ethernet switch that is connected to a
cisco 2501 then out to
internet via t1.
Office router with isdn/u and ethernet. Office router is connected to a 10
base t hub. Connected
to the hub are 4 pc's with 10base t networks cards.
I've set everything up to the point where I can connect the serial port of
the or-u to my pc and
use hyperterm to log in. I can then establish a connection (dial) with
the pm2ei router.
Everything establishes just fine. I have a user set up on the pm2ei and a
location setup
on the or-u. Everything connects just fine. I can ping anywhere, I can
telnet anywhere,
and all addresses resolve just fine with our dns server.
The problem is getting the clients connected to the or-u via the ethernet
port. The ip address
of the ethernet port on the or-u is 207.123.122.110. If I set up a client
(w95) with an ip address of 207.123.122.150 (which is not used anywhere on
our network), and a netmask of 255.255.255.0,
when w95 boots, it says is has detected an ip address conflict with
207.123.122.150 and it
reports the mac address of the ethernet port of the or-u. 207.123.122.150
is not used anywhere
on the network or on any other device besides the machine that is
connected to the hub of which
the office router is also connected. I've tried other address of unused
devices and no matter
what address I use, it reflects this "conflict". I dropped down to wfw and
used microsofts
ip stack, and even though it reports no errors, I can't even ping from the
workstation to
any device, whether local or on the internet. It's like the pc doesn't see
the or and the
or doesn't even see the pc.
Like I said, i'm net at this and I don't have a clue. What do I need to
change to let
the office router "see" the pc and the pc to see the office router. I have
4 other
sites to set up this exact way. I don't have a "file server" at any of the
remote locations,
and all I want to do is use the office router to dial up a 128 isdn
connection to the pm2ei
in order that the remote machines have access to the internet. Any help
would be most
appreciated since I don't have a clue at this point.
