DSP Modem disconnection problems - Not the PM3's Fault ???

Hi,

Since installing our PM3 last week with 4 10 port DSP cards we have been
having a number of compliants from people with various different makes
and models of 28,800/33,600 modems who have been unable to stay
connected for more than about 0-15 minutes at a time.

We have now come to the conclusion that this may not be the fault of the
users system nor the PM3 !!!!

With our old Multitech analogue rack we hardly ever got this problem so
our initial thought was that the PM3 was at fault, we have 2 x PRI both
provided by Diamond Cable in the UK (a local cable television/telephone
provider) Most of our subscribers also have analogue lines provided by
Diamond.

We have found that none of our customers with non-Diamond lines have
these problems and we have asked a few of the customers having problems
to bring their equipment (PC/modem etc) into our office. In every case we
were able to connect for any period of time without disconnection.

Also all of the users that are having this problem can cure it by
reducing the modems DTE rate to 19,200. This is a good quick fix but
hardly a long term one.

My main question then is basically what questions do you all recommend I
ask Diamond cable ??? They do tend to have a particularly low quality
set of installation engineers that install the domestic lines (we have
never had a problem with a business line as these seem to be installed
by reasonably competant engineers) but I really need to get them to
check something in particular otherwise they will argue that there is no
problem (I can hear a dial tone it must be OK !!!!)

Any comments (other than trash Diamond and find a decent Telco) with be
much appreciated

Cheers
