I consult for a company that has a Livingston Firewall Router and needs
configuration. The network has a WEB server which should be accessible by
anyone. The "non-anonymous FTP server" should only be accessible by
authenticated people from a known addresses. The network also has a Microsoft
Mail system as well. This is what I want to do:
I want anyone to be able to get into my Web Server only.
Only known IP addresses are to be allowed to my "non-anonymous FTP server."
These known IP address WILL NOT be allowed to get into other internal network
file servers.
Now, my question is how can I go about configuring this router so that maximum
security is ensured throughout the network? If I put the WEB server outside of
the firewall, how will I be able to route traffic to it without a router? Any
idea? Any reference to a resource center?
Also, I have perused through Livingston ftp and web sites for certain
information but all efforts are to no avail. Where can I get a manual on how
to connect (I mean doing the actual wiring) of the router?
I have attempted to use the PMConsole program to configure the router, but I
keep getting "Connection refused" error message. How can still configure the
router when I can't provide the correct password?
I will appreciate your ideas!
