In this case, the one I was referring to, I made that statement based on
the facts as presented. There is no way we broke telnet on the host, that
was a vital piece of information. And as soon as he said it was a
multi-homes host, there answer was right there.

Did you try a traceroute and ping from the host to PM and vice-versa? That
is the first thing I check, to see if packets are getting where the belong,
and if not, which blackhole has sucked them in.
