Netmasks and routing...

I have a feeling I know the answer to this one, but I'm going to
check anyway. We use a PM2-ER for our gateway router, and we
were recently issued a /20 by our provider. Is there any way
to specify a single route for the whole /20 (255.255.240.0 netmask)?
I'm using 16 255.255.255.0 routes now, but it is a bit ugly. I
tried:
add route <network> <dest> 1 netmask 255.255.240.0
and then
add netmask <network> 255.255.240.0
but it still routes as if it was a /24 netmask.
Is there any way to do this? Thanks for ANY help.
