I am setting up an ISP using the Portmasters and have the following
(probably basic) requirements:
1) 150 Ports assigned for dynamic IP addresses.
2) 150 Ports assinged for static IP addresses ( these are for small
companies that require DNS services)
I was thinking of obtaining two class C addresses
The servers (mail, news, dns, others) and the 5 Portmasters for the
dynamic IP addresses are on one network.
The 5 Portmasters for the static IP addressing are on another
network.
Put a router between the two nets.
OR
Use one lan segment with 2 Class C addresses (multinet?)
Which solution do you ISPs use and what are the pros and cons of
each? Is there any other way of desiging the network.
Other Questions:
Can you set a Portmaster as follows:
22 Ports using 1 Hunt Group and set to 14.4Kbps
6 Ports using another hunt group and set to 28.8kbps
2 Ports using a different phone number for dial-up dedicated access.
How do you authenticate if the user calling a number really belongs
in that group?
Many thanks.
Joe.
