>Since tech support at Livingston is a LITTLE backed up, I thought of posing my question to you folks.

Just a *tad* backed up. But I am trying to get all of the email that has
backed up worked on. I'm finally pretty much moved in so I should be on
the job fulltime again (overtime, who am I kidding)

>1) How do I backup the Portmaster so if it burns-up I can plop a new one in its place and do a complete recovery?

PMreadconf - it creates a binary image as you said, and you can 'install'
than image into a like piece of equipment. PM2eR->PM2eR but NOT PM2eR->PM2e,
etc. Different hardware, different config file layout.

>2) How do I test this theory(i.e. zero out the config data)?

To set a PM back to factory defaults, from the command line prompt, type
the following:

set console
set register 0xffff 0x0102

You will see some output and the "successfully formatted flash 2"

This will return your PM to factory configuration defaults.
