Um, yes. If you want proper operation of any piece of equipment
to operate properly, you have to keep the firmware/drivers up to
date. I'm sure you must enjoy "fixing" your equipment to cure problems
with individual modems. There isn't any way under the sun you can fix
everyone's problems from your side without breaking someone else if
they are running 20 different versions of buggy drivers.

As a side note, I'm STILL seeing new machines with LT Win Modems
being shipped with 5.04 drivers, which are missing important stuff like
Digital Impairment Learning and cause major problems. Upgrade them
to 5.66 and they're perfect. Most of the small machine builders just don't
bother with anything expect what the distributor ships with the board (which
is out of date 90+% of the time). I don't know what the big boys excuse is.
I never send out one of my custom PC's without the absolute latest drivers.
