Oh, I should answer this too...

Yes, AFAIK, at this time NFAS is supported for the NI-2 switch type only.
So to use NFAS you need NI-2.

NFAS and NI-2 aren't linked, you can have NI-2 without NFAS and it is just
like anything else.
