(PM) Port Time-out problem with Quake2 Server

Hello all,

I've got the problem that my Quake2 Server has it's port (27910)
iddling from time to time for some seconds. Many players are thrown out
with "time-out"'s (Quake2 message).

In fact I'm not a network technician. I recently installed a NT box with
web and some Quake Servers at an ISP in Switzerland called 'The Blue
Window'. TBW is the biggest ISP from Switzerland, unfortunately also the
lessest helpfull. My NT box was already at other ISP's, and this problem
never occured there.

What happens: From time to time, several times a day, the port 27910
where the Quake2 server runs, idles, nothing passes thru. During those
seconds, all client players have a freezed window because they don't get
any packets anymore. This idling goes from 2 seconds to 1 minute, and
stops. During that time, most Players disconnected.

I can say that it's just the port that idles, not the whole connection
to outside, because during that time everything works. The QuakeWorld
server works (port 27500), the Web and Mailserver works, everything
else.

What can this be? Is it a local problem on my NT box, or can it be a
network problem from my ISP?

My NT box consits of:
P2-233MHz, 256MB Ram, SCSI HD, 3com 3C905-TX 10/100MBit Fast-Ethernet
NIC
Software running on it:
NT4.0, IIS4.0, Post.Office WebServer, QuakeWorld Server, Quake2
Battleground Server, Quake2 Lithium Server (that one idles).

The strange thing also is that NT boxes like that were already used on
local network Lan Parties (not at the ISP), where they worked without a
hitch during days and crowded with players.

During weeks I'm talking with my ISP about that problem, but the
bureaucracy and all makes it almost impossible to achieve something with
them, the network administrators can't be accessed by phone or Email
they are protected like presidents. Can anybody here help me out at this
problem? I'm really desperated about that problem/ISP.

Thanks.

Regards,
Michael Shavit
