Ruben,
However, the fact that users are being disconnected whenver they come in
through the wrong combination of modem / phone line is a serious problem. I
run a PM3 for a private corporate network, and am quite vexed that the only
solution I've been able to give the users at my company is to use a Hayes
Accura v.90 PC card (terribly hard to get ahold of), or a USR Courier
External modem (no laptop user wants to carry one around.) The Megahertz
cards (which we own over 50 of) experience disconnects when dialing in from
any non-ideal location. When travelling executives dial in long distance,
get dropped, and are unable to work, I, as the maintainer of the dialin
pool, look bad.

Perhaps Livingston could implement something similar to Netscape
Communicator 4.5's "Talkback" in a beta release, that would send appropriate
debug-grade data to a syslog server for analysis on dropped connections, and
they could send out this software to ppl experiencing problems such as mine?
