We have been having spontanious reboots since before upgrading to ComOS
3.8.2. Up to now we have not been able to come up with a common cause.
I have had tickets open with Lucent the entire time.

Recently a Lucent tech had me disable IPX on all my portmasters. I had
mistakenly assumed that it was already off. The only obvious and
immediate benifit was that it saved 20k of memory.

At very near the same time we discovered a good deal of errors on our
ethernet. This was caused by misconfiguration of one of our routers. We
currently have all of our portmasters on a switch and that switch has a
100Mb/full duplex link to a router. Well the router was configured for
100Mb/half duplex. We fixed the router and the errors cleared.

Since applying both of these *fixes* we have not had a single spontanious
reboot. Of course, it has only been a week, and it often took up to two
weeks to see a particular system reboot. Over the course of a week,
however, it has been extremely common to see one or more reboots from
systems that have been up for more than a week or two.

I am very optimistic! Some of our rebooting systems have been up for 29
days now.
