But the modem code isn't the only problem with the PM3. ComOS 3.8x is far
less stable than any previous version I have seen (outside of betas and

This is very true. V.90 is a very young standard and it will take a while
for it to mature and for things to settle down. If you can't live with
V.90 connection problems at the moment then go back to V.34 I think if
Lucent put a command in ComOS to turn off modem standards (such as V.90 or
Flex) for people that might have local difficulties.

We had heaps of problems when we switched to the PM3 from our analogue
lines, but as the technology matured the situation got better.
