How much of an increase is possible on ISDN connections - when just surfing
the web? So I assume on an ISDN connection without these cards in the PM3E
there is no compression taking place when I establish a 2B connection with
my Ascend Pipeline 75 to a P3E?

Why does Lucent charge extra for these cards (instead of just throwing them
into the base product)?

The STAC cards do work with Modems. Windows 95/98/NT offer STAC
compression.
You must disable modem based compression for it to work though (V42bis/etc).

The amount of boost they give really depends on what data you transfer.
Text
files will get a lot faster. JPG a little faster.
