I call in using a cellular modem ( Megahertz 28.8 ) all the time. The
hardest
part is finding a cable for the modem to cell phone. Megahertz ( USR ) at
least gives you a choice of a Motorola or Nokia phone. Connect up all the
time
at the max rate of 9600 ( highest rate cell system's will allow -- mine is
AT&T Wireless). Sometimes I only get a 4800. I can connect, login in, and
add a user in under 2 minutes.Seems like I need about 2/3's signal strength
( of the bars or dots ) to
get a good connect.

Make sure you are not moving while connected and loop the strap on the cell
phone over the the rear view mirror so the antenna is not real close to
metal, is vertical, and not swaying back and forth. Try a spot where there
isn't a lot of
heavy metal rolling by. Things like big trucks.

I had a Motorola 28.8 on an extra phone line into the Unix box that had
MNP 10 and used the cell phone to that but I didn't really notice any
difference.
Now I just use an old Hayes 14.4 and couldn't tell you if it has MNP10 or
not.
Trouble is I forget to turn on the Hayes every now and then so I have to go
thru the PM3. Half the time I go thru the Hayes and the other half thru the
PM3.
In a year and a half it has never let me down. Every now and then there is a
close call but always connected.

On the road in another city, 60 cents per minute roaming cell phone is
cheaper than buck and a quarter a minute motel rates. They still charge you
if it is an 800 number.
