Hello,

It sounds to me like this user may have an RPI modem.

For more information go to my modems site (the address is in my
signature), select "Personal Notes" and then "Rockwell."

If you are charging the customer for the time it takes you to tinker
with the modem until it works, this will not be worth the effort. If
you have a Costco near by, they can purchase a Best Data V.90/56flex
modem for less than $60. If you are not charging the customer, but
consider your time valuable, it will probably be worth purchasing
this modem for them.

The newer Best Data modems appear to have resolved most (if not all)
of the issues that existed in the 14,400 versions and appear to work
reliably.
