K56Flex may work, but not always. K56Flex in general has escalated modem
tech support incidents by leaps in bounds. And v.34 is broken for many
modems (or I wouldn't have to keep my USR MP/16 hanging around). I've yet
to see connections on the PM-3 as stable as they were/are on my USR
analog eqipment connected to my trusty old PM-2e.

But then I'd never, EVER, buy a NAS from USR or Ascend. Blech! As
frustrating as it is, I have confidence Lucent will come through. I just
wish it were sooner rather than sooooo much later. When was the last time
FINAL modem code was released? What, 7 months ago? And the betas, which
are "not recommended for production machines," are separated by 75 days
each time through. I'm betting the final release of modem code won't be
until December, almost 1 full year since the previous release. Ouch.
