Howdy,

Our experience with upgrading to 3.8b17 seemed to be a bit more problematic
than some. We upgraded one our three local portmasters to the new code.
We track modem pool usage with MRTG, and after installing the upgrade, I
found that the graph for the third portmaster, which we upgraded, had
fallen to roughly half the average utilization of the other two - usually
the load is distributed equally among the three. It seems clear to me that
this means that with the new code, only half of the users could connect.
We downgraded back to 3.7.2c3 just one day after upgrading, and the
utilization is back up to normal. I guess you can never run too far from
the old rule not to trust beta code.
