But when you are netbooting it is loading into ram and not flash. He could
still hav a bad flash but the com os load stop at 42% sounds more like a
bad image to me.

Right, that would be my deduction.

Except even if you load a generic OS, if the flash that holds the password
is still intact, it will still force you to enter that password.
