I upgraded a few PM3's to ComOS 3.8b17 and noticed that I still can't make
a connection with USR Sportster 56K which was upgraded from a X2 modem to
V.90.
I also downloaded the newest driver for Win.95 from USR and double checked
everything.
When I try to connect to the PM3 it's doing the handshake and a few extra
bongs (sounds) and then windows will display the "The computer you are
dialing is not answering, Please try again later" (error 678) message.
Please note that this message comes up AFTER the handshake.
The strange part is that when I un-check "IP header compression" within the
TCP/IP settings it WILL connect at 50666 bps but I cannot transfer any
data...the modem lights are blinking like crazy put I cannot ping any
address. Exchanging the modem with the same modem (USR Sporster X2) that
has not been upgraded to v.90 I connect and transfer data fine at 28.8 bps.
