(PM) Note from List Admin

A couple requests for everybody...

1) Don't include the word "help" in the subject or the first line or two
of your posts. It will get caught by Majordomo and kept for manual
processing. Similarly don't say subscribe, unsubscribe, or anything that
may be recognized as a majordomo command. If it is unavoidable put an
asterisk or similar in the middle of the word (e.g. help == h*elp). Real
requests meant for majordomo are to go to "majordomo@livingston.com"..

2) When quoting messages, please snip the quoted message down as much as
possible, especially the "how to unsubscribe" thing appended to all
outgoing message posts, we don't need to read it again in the quoted
portion from an older message.

3) Don't CC: me (or support) on posts going to the PM lists. Either send
it to one or the other. Or send them separately if you must (or bcc). If
you are thinking of sending me an e-mail personally, please think twice,
as it may be better and more quickly answered on the list. If you send
something to me personally, I may not get to it for a while, since I have
other things to do. And if there isn't a whole lot of reason that I can
see that it went to me personally, it may get ignored depending on my
time, or I may send my reply to it directly to the list that it should
have been posted to to begin with. This is an *unofficial* user support
channel--if you want an OFFICIAL response send it to
support@livingston.com or call support.

4) If you are having mail list related problems and want to talk to a
human send your request to owner-list-name@livingston.com. Yes, for now
that is me. Use the alias anyway, it may not always be me.

5) Since this issue came up in the last week. NO FOR-SALE posts! Whether
Livingston/Lucent equipment or not, doesn't matter. There are several
other lists just for doing that. This is not up for argument, folks. It
is a done deal. Really. :-)

6) Make sure you post from the same address that you are subscribed from.
Otherwise your posts won't get through. They'll just seem to disappear
until I notice them and manually send you back a notice letting you know
something is wrong.

7) If you get subscribed to the "bounces" list, it means your mailbox is
causing lots of bounces to me (or the list owner) and you've been knocked
off of the list. Once your problem is fixed, you'll have to resubscribe
to the list(s) you were on before. This is especially happening a lot
lately with everybody installing anti-relay spam rules in their
sendmail.cf and doing what appears to be absolutely no testing whatsoever
after activating them. It is probably a good idea to always test anything
that gets changed. :)

Thanks everybody.
