Hi,
Just thought I'd share with you what I did with a 3 Com - USR 56K modem. I
had the same problems as Phil (and a lot of others) with the new beta .
Dropped connects, slow connects, no answers, etc. Changed the init string
to AT&F1&I0&N33&U25s15=128 and it works great. Every time.No drops. &N33
specifies the connect speed as 49333, and &U25 specifies a minimum of
38600. So far I've had all 49333. I tried other various configurations and
speed combos, but right now, these are consistant and quick. Tell your users
to try it,and if they are still having trouble (because of bad copper
lines, for instance),try reducing &Nn till they get a good connect. By the
way, its also necessary to keep the port speed on the receive buffer at
about 75%.Tweek it all the way up and I get no connects.
Hope this helps some folks.
Sincerely,
Craig Farah
