What type of connection/equipment are they using? Many of the older
Macintosh computers doesn't have a Data Carrier Detect(DCD) line on the DIN
connector of the serial port. This in turn means that the PPP state
machines have to go to great lengths in order to maintain connections and
detect lost connections using LCP_ECHO_REQUEST/LCP_ECHO_REPLY mechanisms
that we saw in earlier traces.

I just started playing with the java PPP decoder and I noticed that one
of our customers is sending these at one second intervals. Seems a bit
excessive.
