We had a customer with a similar problem. Is it possible, that you start a huge Ethernet
load at 9 pm? Looks like you start a backup job (perhaps NFS-based?) which leads to a
high collision rate.
Attach a PC with a terminal program (in log mode) to Port C0 (null modem cable!), DIP 1
up, 9600 8N1, login as !root and do "set console". Check out any error messages.
Also, watch collision rates with "show netstat", they should be less than 1%. If you have
more, consider a switch.
