I know you probably tried this, but I had some customers with the same
problem. I noticed they had their Windows Port flow control set to either
NONE or XON/XOFF. I suggested they move it HARDWARE and the problems went
away.

I use linux at home with a Zoom (pre-V1.2) and my experience is the same
except, I don't necessarily get the disconnects, just a brain-dead
connection that says its at 24K but is unusable otherwise. However,
sometimes a disconnection results, (I'm not sure if its the modem or my
system's 30 minute idle timer kicking in because my pings aren't making it
to the server - haven't really taken the time to analyse it) It usually
takes about 8 hours for mine to retrain all the way down to 24K. I can
see retraining down if line conditions warrant, but then there doesn't
seem to be any retrain ups when conditions are restored. Has anyone tried
fixing the connect speed a notch or two lower that what the Zoom wants to
initially connect at?

Actually, I haven't bothered to mess with it much more as my Courier gets
much more reliable connections.

BTW, I've heard some say they were using V1.2 code for the Zoom, and
others say "Don't use it, it has severe problems". What is the real
scoop? Is the 1.2 code an improvement, or something to shy away from?
I've held off upgrading until there seems to be a general consensus.
