(PM) VoiceSurfer hangs

I've got a customer with a Motorola Voicesurfer 56k internal modem that just
hangs with red tx/rx lights after about 850 characters are sent/received. He
is at firmware version 1.009. We've forced V.34 mode and it still does it,
we've forced no retrains and it still does it. We've forced no hardware
compression and it still does it.

Anyone have any luck with these? Anyone have any suggestions?
