Unless it's configurable, whichever way things default will annoy people.
I have a customer with a Cyclades router that defaults to setting the
source address according to the interface packets will leave the router
on...and since the serial interface uses private IP addresses, it makes it
impossible for them to ping or traceroute very far in my direction from
inside the router.
